Arncliffe, Sydney
A new self-contained secondary dwelling nestles into the sandstone on this steep, densely planted block, which also contains an older brick house that has been in the owner’s family since it was built in the 1930s. The new dwelling, home to the owner’s mother, is topped with a dramatic, cantilevered green roof with impressive district and city views. The grassed roof connects to the main house, bringing usable outdoor space to this site for the first time.
The old house is currently being extensively reconfigured to create a sustainable, contemporary family home.
